Test changes in a sandbox and promote them

How-to9 minExpertAdd-on · Sandbox

The sandbox is a copy of your workspace where you can build and test without touching what your users see. When you are happy, you promote the changes to production in one reviewed step.

Open the Designer at your workspace’s sandbox address. The top bar shows a Sandbox button and the subtitle reads Designer Space · Sandbox. Its note says changes here do not reach your users until you promote them.

To start from a fresh copy of production, open the Sandbox menu and choose Replace with production…. Tick I understand unpromoted sandbox changes will be deleted and click Replace sandbox. Beezr then shows “Your sandbox now matches production.”

  1. Open the Sandbox menu and choose Promote to production…. Sandbox Promotion opens.
  2. Click Compute Diff.
  3. Type a Changeset name, for example CRM field cleanup, and an optional Description. Click Compute Diff again.
  4. Beezr shows “Diff computed: 8 change(s) found.” The Diff tab lists the Changed items, grouped by module and form, each marked added, modified or deleted.
  5. Tick the items to promote. Click Open on an item to see Change Details.
  6. Click Promote.

Beezr shows “Changes promoted to production successfully.”

The Sandbox Promotion page with a list of changesets on the left, summary cards on top, and the Diff tab listing changed items with tick boxes.
Compute Diff starts a new changeset.
Changesets lists recent diffs. Review opens one and Audit shows its history.
The summary shows Pending changes, Conflicts and Selected.
Tick the items you want to promote.
Promote and Rollback act on the open changeset.

An item marked as a conflict has the same identifier in production. Beezr says “Conflicts were detected in this changeset. Resolve them before promoting.” Resolve it in the sandbox, then compute a new diff.

  • Audit opens the audit trail of a promoted changeset: each item, its change, when it was promoted and its rollback status. Open shows the Before and After state.
  • Rollback asks “Roll back this changeset?” and, on Yes, Rollback, restores the state before the promotion.

Wipes the sandbox and rebuilds it from a fresh copy of production. Anything not promoted is lost, so promote first.
