Set up cards and list views
Before you start
Cards and the list suit modules where people recognise a record by a picture or a short summary: vendors, products, people. Cards are a grid. The list is a column of compact rows. Both open the record when someone clicks them. They are set up the same way, so this page covers both.
Set up the Cards view
Section titled “Set up the Cards view”- Open Dataviews and click the Cards tab.
- Turn on Show cards. Its note says “Records as a grid of cards. People click a card to open the record.”
- Under Image, choose No image, or From a field and pick the file field.
- Under Fields, click Add fields and pick what each card shows. Drag them into order.
- Under Layout, choose Align text: Left, Center or Right.
- Click Save.
The first field is the title. The others show under it with their label. The image fills the top of the card. A sketch under Card shape shows the layout. It uses no real records.
Click Style on a field to change how it looks, for example to colour a status.
Set up the List view
Section titled “Set up the List view”- Click the List tab and turn on Show the list. Its note says “Records as compact rows. People click a row to open the record.”
- Under Thumbnail, choose None, or From a field and pick the file field. It shows as a small square at the start of each row.
- Under Lines, add fields to the Title line. Click Add a line for a second line, and more.
- Choose a Separator for each line:
·,|,/,–or,. Fields on one line sit side by side with it between them. - Click Save.
The title line is bold. The other lines are smaller and grey. Move a line with its up and down arrows, or remove it with its x. Put each field on one line. The picker marks a field already used with its line.
What if the tab says Needs setup?
Section titled “What if the tab says Needs setup?”Both tabs list what is missing:
- “Add at least one field”
- “Pick the image field” (Cards) or “Pick the thumbnail field” (List), when From a field has no field chosen
- a deleted field: remove the column and select an existing field
Fix each item, or click Remove it for a deleted field, then click Save.
Make one open first
Section titled “Make one open first”Each tab has an Open this view first switch. Turning it on here turns it off on the others, so one view opens first.
What did I get?
Section titled “What did I get?”Two more ways to browse. In App space they keep their names, Cards and List. If you turn a view off, Beezr keeps its fields for when you turn it back on.
