Translate your app into Arabic
Before you start
Translate your app so Arabic-speaking colleagues read module names, field names and buttons in their own language. The work is typing Arabic text next to the English, one label at a time. The Labels page keeps count for you.
Translate the labels that need it
Section titled “Translate the labels that need it”- In the left rail, click Labels. Read the bar at the top, for example Arabic is 78% done.
- Click Translate them. The table now shows only the labels under Needs Arabic.
- Click the Arabic cell of the first row and type the translation.
- Press Enter to save it and move to the next row.
- Repeat for each row. Then click the Needs Arabic filter to refresh the list. When it says Nothing left to translate, you are done.
Each save updates the bar and the Needs Arabic count straight away. The row you finished stays on screen until you click the Needs Arabic filter again.
When the list is empty, the page says “Every label has its own Arabic text.” and offers Show all labels.
Add a new label
Section titled “Add a new label”Add a label when a Smart Script or a custom block needs a piece of text that no module or field already has.
- Click New label. The New label dialog opens.
- Type the English text, for example
Delivery Window. The Key fills itself in asdelivery_window. - Change the key if you need to. It uses lowercase English letters, digits, underscores or dots.
- Type the Arabic text. It is optional.
- Click Create label, or press Ctrl + Enter.
Beezr shows “Label delivery_window created” and puts the new row at the top. If you left the Arabic empty, the row shows under Needs Arabic.
Give each label its own key. If the key already exists, use the Show it link to go to the existing row.
Check the result in Arabic
Section titled “Check the result in Arabic”Each person chooses their language in their profile. To see your own app in Arabic:
- Open the account menu in the top bar and click My profile.
- Under language, choose Arabic and save.
- Open your application in App space and look at the menu, the forms and the lists.
Anything still in English was missing or identical in Arabic. Go back to Labels and fix it. For how people switch language in App space, and how right-to-left layout behaves, see Working in Arabic.
What should I know?
Section titled “What should I know?”- New modules and fields start with their English name copied into Arabic. They count as Needs Arabic until you change the text.
- Changing a label’s text never changes a module or field’s stored name. See The Labels page.
