Create an insight

How-to8 minPractitionerAdd-on · BeezrIQ

Before you start

Create an insight when you have a question your records can answer, such as “what will we spend next quarter?” This page builds a forecast of purchase order spend. The other types follow the same steps with their own settings.

  1. In the left rail, click BeezrIQ, then Create Your First Insight. The Insight Builder opens, headed Design Smarter Insights.
  2. Click Select Insight Type. Hover a card to read when to use it, what data it needs and what you get. Click Forecast.
  3. Under Basic Information, type the Insight Name, for example Quarterly spend forecast.
  4. Choose the Module, for example Purchase Orders.
  5. Add a Description if it helps, such as “Projected purchase order spend”.
  6. Under Forecast Settings, choose the Target Field (What to Forecast), for example Total amount, and the Time Field, for example Order date.
  7. Choose the Forecast Horizon, for example 6 Months, and the Granularity, for example Monthly.
  8. Click Save & Execute.
The Insight Builder with a Forecast chosen: Basic Information on top, Forecast Settings and Model Configuration below, and Cancel and Save & Execute at the bottom.
Current Insight Type shows your choice. Change type reopens the list.
Basic Information holds the name, module and description.
The settings below depend on the type. A forecast asks for a target, a time field, a horizon and a granularity.
Save & Execute saves the insight and returns to the BeezrIQ home page, where you click Run Insight on its card.

The Module list decides which fields you can pick. After you choose a module, Beezr reads its data and shows a banner about how ready it is, with Try → buttons that suggest types that fit. Click one to switch to it.

SettingWhat it does
Target Field (What to Forecast)The numeric field to project into the future
Time FieldThe date or time field that orders your data
Forecast Horizon3 Months, 6 Months or 12 Months. Longer horizons give wider bands
GranularityDaily, Weekly or Monthly
Include Seasonality DetectionOn when your data repeats, such as higher spend every December. Give it at least 2 full seasonal cycles of data
Confidence LevelA slider from 80% to 99%. 95% is the standard choice

Under Advanced Settings, Max Rows sets how many rows are analysed. Lower it on a big module to run faster.

Fill in the name, the module, the type, a target and a time field for a forecast. Other types ask for their own settings, such as at least 2 fields for a correlation. Beezr tells you what to add if anything is missing.

Then the insight is saved as active and you return to the BeezrIQ home page. To see the report, click the play icon, Run Insight, on the new card to open the Insight Report.

On the home page, click the pencil on its card. The Insight Builder opens with the saved settings, and Save & Execute updates the insight. Cancel returns to the home page without saving.

A saved, active insight on the BeezrIQ home page. Run it any time for a chart, a fit score and a written summary on the module’s latest data.
