Create saved lists
Before you start
A saved list is a set of filters with a name, like “My open orders”. People pick it from the table and see only those records. You prepare the ground in the Designer, and the lists themselves are saved in App space.
Choose how lists behave
Section titled “Choose how lists behave”On the Table tab of Dataviews, find Saved lists. The note says “Saved lists are filters people pick from, like “My open orders”.”
- Under Show the lists, choose In the toolbar or Above the table.
- Decide whether to turn on Wait for a list before loading.
- Decide whether to turn on Search inside the selected list.
- Click Save.
| Setting | What people get |
|---|---|
| In the toolbar | A list button next to the search box. It reads All records until a list is picked |
| Above the table | Each list as a chip above the table, with its record count |
| Wait for a list before loading | The table stays empty until someone picks a list. Useful for very large modules |
| Search inside the selected list | Search looks only at records in the chosen list, not the whole module |
The preview shows both placements. It labels the search box Search in list when the last setting is on.
Save a list in App space
Section titled “Save a list in App space”Tell the people who use the module how to save their own, or do it yourself for them. In App space:
- Open the module’s records and apply the filters you want. Each filter shows as a chip, with + Edit filters to add more.
- Click Save as list. It shows while no list is active.
- Type a List Name, for example
Open orders over 50,000. - Turn on Make this list private to me if only you should see it. It is off by default.
- Click Save.
The list now appears in the list button, or as a chip. To change a list’s filters, pick the list, change the chips and click Update list. Deleting a list asks you to confirm first.
The list button appears once the module has at least one list.
What did I get?
Section titled “What did I get?”A table where people jump straight to the records they work on. Lists belong to the module, so everyone who can open it can pick the lists that are not private.
