Before you start

A dashboardDashboardThe first screen of an app: sections of blocks (Metric, Report, Custom HTML).Open glossary ↗ is a home screen for an applicationApplicationA named menu of modules (grouped into sections) that people open in App space.Open glossary ↗: numbers, reports and your own panels, arranged in rows. You list and manage dashboards under Dashboards in the Designer’s left rail. You design one in the Page builder.

The page is headed Dashboards. Dashboards belong to an app, so you choose the app first. The page shows Choose an app with one card per app. If there are no apps, it says “Dashboards belong to an app. Create an app first, then come back to give it a home screen.”

Once an app is open, the list shows its dashboards.

The Dashboards list for one app: the app switcher and search box above a table of dashboards, each row with its roles, an Active switch and an Open button.
The app name opens a menu to switch to another app.
New dashboard opens the drawer for a new one.
Who sees it shows the first two roles, then a count. No roles picked is a warning.
The Active switch hides a dashboard without deleting it.
Open goes to the Page builder. The dots menu has Design, Rename and access, Duplicate and Delete.

Each row shows the dashboard’s name and its size, such as “3 sections · 7 blocks”, or “Empty, not designed yet”. Click Name or Active to sort. Search with Search dashboards, or press /. Press N to start a new dashboard.

Open a dashboard and the Page builder fills the screen. A bar runs across the top, with the page name, which you can edit in place. A left panel adds things, the canvas in the middle is the dashboard, and the right panel edits whatever you select.

The Page builder with the Main Dashboard open: section layouts and block types on the left, the dashboard canvas in the middle and the page settings on the right.
Switch the canvas between desktop, tablet and phone widths.
Preview hides the editing tools. Save turns on when something changed.
Sections are rows. Pick a layout to add one.
Blocks go inside a section: Metric, Report and Custom HTML.
With nothing selected, the right panel holds the page’s Name and Who sees it.

The left panel has two tabs, Add and Layers. Layers lists every section and block by name, which helps on a long page.

A section is a row with columns. Click a layout to add it at the end, or drag it into place.

LayoutColumnsHow blocks share the row
Full1One block, full width
Halves2Two equal blocks
Thirds3Three equal blocks
Quarters4Four equal blocks
Wide · narrow3The first block takes 2 columns, the second takes 1
Narrow · wide3The first block takes 1 column, the second takes 2

With a section selected, Columns offers 1, 2, 3, 4 and 6. Each block has a Width stepper, for example “1 / 4”, to span more columns.

  • Undo and Redo step back and forward through your changes.
  • Save with Ctrl + S, duplicate the selection with Ctrl + D, remove it with Delete, move a section with Alt + ↑ or ↓, and preview with P.
  • Build with Buzz in the top bar can change the page for you. The builder then says “Buzz updated the page. Review it, then save.”

Click Save. The builder says “Saved. People see the changes next time they open the page.” If you leave with unsaved work, it asks Save your changes? and offers Discard or Save and leave.
