Add related tabs

Before you start

Tabs sit under the header of a record. A Bids record can carry its Contracts, its Technical Bid Evaluation and its Award as tabs, so people see the whole story without leaving the page. This page shows how to choose and order them, and how to add your own.

There are three kinds, always in this order:

KindWhere it comes fromWhat you do
Details, Notes, AttachmentsBuilt in. Details shows the fields from the module’s formNothing to set. They are always first

The tab strip of a Bids record in the designer: Details, Notes and Attachments, then the related tabs Contracts, Technical Bid Evaluation, Commercial Bid Evaluation and Award, and a Tab button.
The built-in tabs come first, with Details open.
The linked icon marks a related tab. The name comes from the relation.
+ Tab adds a tab of your own, after the related tabs.
Related tabs in the outline shows how many are on, such as “4 of 4 shown”.
  1. Open Smart views for the module.
  2. Click Related tabs in the outline, or the tab strip itself.
  3. Under Related tabs, switch a tab off to hide it, or on to show it.
  4. Drag the tabs into the order you want. You can also drag them in the strip.
  5. Click Save.

A hidden tab is not deleted. The strip counts them: “2 hidden”. Beezr tells you how many are shown, for example “3 of 4 shown”. To go back to the starting set, click Restore defaults.

Related tabs come from relations. To get a new one, add a relation first, on the Relations manager. If a relation is deleted later, the designer tells you the related tab is removed when you save.

  1. Click + Tab in the strip, or Add a tab in the Tabs panel. A tab named New tab appears.
  2. Under Tab name, type a short, clear name.
  3. Under In this tab, top to bottom, add what the tab should hold: a Button, Button group, Text, Table or Report.
  4. Click Save.

Your tabs always come after the related tabs. Drag them to reorder them among themselves. Give every tab a name.

Content in a tab is set up as it is in the header. See Add action buttons.

Select your tab, choose Remove this tab, then confirm. The confirmation names how many items go with it. To remove a related tab from view, hide it with its switch.

A record with only the tabs that matter, in the order that makes sense. Open a record in App space to check them.

Karim wants the Technical Bid Evaluation tab to stop showing on Bids records. What does he do?
Show the answer

Turn off its switch in the Tabs panel. Each related tab has a switch. Turning it off hides the tab without touching the relation.

Where do Details, Notes and Attachments sit among the tabs?
Show the answer

They are built in and come first on every record. The three built-in tabs are on every record and always come first.
