Create a module
Before you start
Create a module for each kind of record you keep: Equipment Requests, Vendors, Contracts. Beezr sets up the storage and a starting form and table, so you can begin adding fields at once.
Create the module
Section titled “Create the module”- In the left rail, click Modules.
- Click Add module. The New module dialog opens.
- Type the Name, for example
Equipment Requests. - Add a Description if it helps others. It is optional.
- Click Create module.
The dialog closes, and the new module appears as a card. Click the card to open its Fields page.
The other settings in the dialog:
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| Icon | Optional PNG, shown next to the module in your apps |
| Share data across users | Everyone can see this module’s records. See Shared data modules |
| Barcode sheets | Lets users print a barcode sheet for records with barcode fields |
What can I call a module?
Section titled “What can I call a module?”A name:
- starts with an English letter
- uses English letters, numbers, underscores and spaces
- is written in English, with no Arabic or other special characters
- is different from every other module name, in any capitals
If a name needs fixing, the dialog stays open and shows the reason in red. Correct the name and click Create module again.
What does Beezr create with the module?
Section titled “What does Beezr create with the module?”- A table to store the records. Its name starts with
cm_and ends with_base, for examplecm_equipment_requests_base. You see it under the module name on the card. A digit in the name is spelled out in the table name, soForm 2becomescm_form_digit_two_base. - A hidden key field, named after the module with
_pr_idadded. It identifies each record. - Two system fields, a creation date and a creation user, which Beezr fills in.
- A default form with one empty block called Request Details.
- A table view with no columns yet.
- A label for the module’s name, so it shows in Labels and can be translated.
So the Fields page lists only the key field at first, and the module’s list in App space is empty until you add columns. Add fields next, then put them on the form and in the table. See Add a field.
What did I get?
Section titled “What did I get?”A module with a card on the Modules page and one field. It does not belong to an application yet. To show it to people, add it to a group in the App builder.
