The App builder

Screen guide6 minFoundation

Before you start

The App builder is where one application is defined: its name, whether people can open it, and the menu of modules it shows. Open it by clicking a card on My applications, or start a new application with Start from Blank or New application.

The App builder for Vendor HUB. The Details panel on the left has an icon, name, description and two switches. The Menu on the right lists four groups of modules, each with Add modules and a menu button.
Name is required. The page title follows what you type.
Active controls whether people can open the application.
Default app opens first when people sign in.
App ID appears once the application is saved.
Add modules opens a list of modules to tick for this group.
Save writes the details and the menu together.
SettingWhat it does

ActivePeople can open the app in App space
Default appOpens first when people sign in. Choose the app that opens first
App IDA number Beezr gives the application when it is saved

Turning on Default app also turns on Active, and then Active is locked on, because the default app is always active.

“Groups become sections of the app’s side menu. Drag to reorder.” Each group has:

  • a grip to drag the whole group up or down
  • its name, which you click to rename
  • a count of its modules
  • Add modules, which opens the module list
  • a menu button with Rename, Move up, Move down and Delete group

Under the name, each module is a row with its own grip and an × that removes it from this group. You can drag a module to another group. Step-by-step tasks are in Organise the app menu with groups.

An application with no groups yet shows Build the menu, with an Add first group button.

How do I create a module without leaving the builder?

Section titled “How do I create a module without leaving the builder?”

In the module list, click Create module. A drawer titled Create module opens and says “It’s added to {group} when you save.” Fill in the module’s name, short description, icon and settings, then click Create and add. The list closes and Beezr shows “{name} created and added to {group}”.

The drawer follows the same naming rules as the Modules page. See Create a module.

What do Save, Cancel and the back link do?

Section titled “What do Save, Cancel and the back link do?”
  • Save checks the name, writes the application and its menu, and returns you to My applications. A message such as “Vendor HUB saved” appears there.
  • Cancel and the Applications back link return to the list without saving.
  • While you have unsaved edits, an Unsaved changes tag shows at the top. Leaving then asks Discard your changes? with Keep editing and Discard. Closing the browser tab also asks you to confirm.
  • Put at least one module in every group you want in the menu. The save message says how many empty groups were left out.
  • Give each group its own name. Capitals do not make a name different, so Sales and sales count as the same.
  • A module that is already in another group shows its group name in the list, for example In Purchasing.
  • Pressing Esc while naming a group cancels the name.

The group has at least one module in it. Put at least one module in each group. A group with no modules is left out when you save, and the confirmation message tells you how many.
