Connect your own database

How-to6 minExpert

A datasource tells Beezr where your own database is. Add one when your IT team wants the workspace’s data to live in a database it runs and controls.

  1. Open Account settings and choose Data Sources. The page is called Custom Datasource Manager.
  2. Under Database, click Manage. The Datasources page opens.
  3. Click Add Datasource. The Configure Datasource dialog opens.
  4. Type a DATASOURCE NAME, for example Finance - Reporting DB.
  5. Choose the engine: MariaDB, PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server or Oracle.
  6. Fill HOST, PORT, USERNAME, PASSWORD and SCHEMA / DATABASE.
  7. Click Test. A message says whether the connection was established.
  8. Click Save Datasource.

Beezr shows “Datasource Added Successfully.” The datasource appears in the table with its name, type and host.

The Configure Datasource dialog with five engine cards, then Host, Port, Username, Password and Schema fields, and the Test and Save Datasource buttons.
Pick the engine from the cards.
Fill in where the database is and how to sign in.
Test checks the connection. Save Datasource saves it.

Each row has icons for Edit Datasource, Test Connection, Reinitialize Connection Pool and Delete Datasource.

  • Test Connection answers “Connection to target database was established” when it works. If it fails, the dialog shows the reason.
  • Reinitialize Connection Pool rebuilds the pool of database connections. Use it when you are troubleshooting connection issues.
  • Delete Datasource asks you to confirm.

Reinitializing the pool closes all active database connections for that datasource. People using it may be interrupted and open transactions may roll back. Do it in a maintenance window.
